Nancy O'Dell's first job in the broadcast industry was as a reporter/anchor for WPDE-TV Myrtle Beach South Carolina. She later became a morning news anchor as well as a crime reporter at WCBD TV. O'Dell's articles in Charleston, about how the Charleston police handled DUI cases with care, led to an inquiry by State Law Enforcement Division. This investigation led to a more strict directive for state authorities. Ms. O'Dell received the Best Report of the Media Award in South Carolina by the Associated Press. O'Dell's experience in Charleston led her to serve as a co-anchor, reporter as well as NBC's Miami WTVJ-TV.
